JOB SUMMARY:The Jack C. Montgomery VAMC is a primary medical and surgical facility located in Muskogee, OK, that provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. Responsible for providing consulting pulmonary medicine care to include inpatient and outpatient consults.  They will also provide critical care consults to patients admitted and assist hospitalist and primary team in their management.  He/she is expected to function under the standards of current best practices and provide clinical expertise to the respiratory therapy service.  Joint Commission and VA standards of care will need to be followed. Will be expected to be on call from home on a rotating basis, to respond to any pulmonary emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Citizenship:  Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available in accordance with regulations issued by the Under Secretary for Health or designee).



Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice nursing/medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.



Physical Standards/Requirements:  All applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. 



English Language Proficiency:  Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. Chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity that is not proficient in written and spoken English.
Education:  Degree of doctor or medicine an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must be obtained from schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. Must hold a current doctorate of medicine or osteopathy and current, full, unrestricted licensure to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in Licensure for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.

You may need to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and climb, and work in cramped positions.
