Montgomery VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for one Section Chief Cardiologist (Board Certified/Board Eligible) offering up to the maxium pay on current VA physician pay table.Cardiologist perform inpatient and outpatient Cardiology consultation and interpret diagnostic test (teatmills, Holter and event monitors, echocardiograms).Procedural skills needed include placement of Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, temporary transvenous packmakers and permanent pacemakers.

Montgomery VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for one Section Chief Cardiologist (Board Certified/Board Eligible) offering up to the maxium pay on current VA physician pay table.Cardiologist perform inpatient and outpatient Cardiology consultation and interpret diagnostic test (teatmills, Holter and event monitors, echocardiograms).Procedural skills needed include placement of Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, temporary transvenous packmakers and permanent pacemakers.The incumbent will provide direct patient movement with respect to appropriate placement, diagnostic studies, and treatments.Icumbent provides expert opinion on level and appropriateness of care for patients of VA requiring cardiology specialty services.Will act as point of contact with consult scheduling service, to arrange the appropriate placement of patients of patients within the medical center or requesting referral outside the system. Incumbent review plans of care and/or results submitted by outside cardiology services as to appropriate disposition, and review requested diagnostic studies as needed to ensure appropriateness.



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.



Physical Standards/Requirements: See VA Hanbook 5005, Part III, Chapter 2, Pargraph 7, and VA Handbook 5019, Occupational Health Services. All applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.



English Language Proficiency: Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. Chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity that is not proficient in written and spoken English.

It is preferred that the candidate be Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice with experience in Outpatient Primary Care.


Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.  The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.  Approved schools are:


1.Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.


2.Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.


3.Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.


4.For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.


You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in Licensure for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.

You may need to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors and walk over rough and uneven terrain.
