The incumbent will complete and oversee a variety of professional assignments for the treatment of patients afflicted with all spectrums and co-morbid conditions of mental disorders and substance abuse.The position encompasses and has the potential to work in multiple different settings, including inpatient, outpatient clinics, PTSD program, consult liaison, primary care, substance abuse, resident teaching and research. Assignment will depend on the needs of the facility as well as the interests of the candidate.
English Language Proficiency: Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoke and written English as required by 38 USC 7402(d), 7407(d).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1) Incumbent must be a US Citizen or have proper authorization to work in the United States.
2) Have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in Psychiatry.The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
3) Possess and maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
4) Be board certified/eligible in Psychiatry.
5) Be proficient in written and spoken English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7405(f).
You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test before you can be appointed into this position.
You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in medicine for this position.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
Applicants for this position must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
