Licensure requirements: This position requires that you obtain and maintain an active unrestricted nursing license from any state or U.S. territory. Additional Duty Location Info:

Determines the nursing procedures and practices to be included and periodically evaluates the plan to ensure that the intended results are being achieved.
- Performs pre-operative assessment and teaching for patient and families.
- Implements the standard of care by providing for the physical safety of patient, monitoring life functions, and therapeutic measures.
- Evaluates patient status and patient's standard of care.
- Functions as a scrub or circulating nurse on all types of procedures providing care by meeting the physical, psychological and technical needs of the patient during surgical intervention.
- Assembles and operates a wide variety of simple and complex equipment during the operative procedure and employs safety measures.
- Documents care provided for and assesses the effectiveness of care through post-operative follow-up and the audit process; modifies care based on evaluation results.
- Must demonstrate the ability to administer procedural sedation.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In addition to the above, you must also meet the following minimum requirements and the Selective Placement Factor for the grade level you wish to be considered for:
GS-10: 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or a master’s or equivalent.OR 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level.
Example of Specialized Experience: Work experience reflecting knowledge of comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures ranging from simple to complex in nature, under both controlled and stressful situations.Work experience recognizing and responding appropriately to patient conditions that deviate from normal and identify, analyze, and report on causative factors and reactions.Knowledge of the independent management of patients receiving sedation/analgesia.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualification requirements, the following Selective Placement Factor must be met.
1. Ability to administer concious sedation.

Time-In-Grade requirements, if applicable, will not apply to Excepted Service Examining Plan applicants.You must meet all of the BASIC REQUIREMENTS listed below:
- Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accredited agency at the time the program was completed
- An active, unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
