JOB SUMMARY:The Jack C. Montgomery VAMC is a primary medical and surgical facility located in Muskogee, OK, that provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. Outpatient care is also provided at three community based outpatient clinics in Hartshorne, Tulsa and Vinita, OK. PLEASE NOTE: This announcement is not intended to cover all the duties, responsibilities or qualifications of this position.The primary functions as a Pharmacist will be the interpretation and verification of physicians' orders, patient education profile review (allergy, drug interaction screens, etc.), supervising the technicians in the dispensing of appropriate medications, providing drug and policy information to patients and medical center staff, and participating in educational programs within the service and medical center. All activities are conducted with the goals of self enhancement and personal growth, and within the guidelines of safety and security regulations. Applicant must be willing to work in several settings such as the Outpatient Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Vault, IV Rooms, Counseling Areas, and other areas as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice nursing/medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Physical Standards/Requirements: See VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Chapter 2, paragraph 7, and VA Handbook 5019, Occupational Health Services. All applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
English Language Proficiency: Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. Chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity that is not proficient in written and spoken English.
Education: 1. Graduate of a degree program in pharmacy from an approved college or university.The degree program must have been approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), or prior to the establishment of ACPE have been a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).Verification of approved degree programs may be obtained from the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education, 311 West Superior Street, Suite 512, Chicago, Illinois 60610 Phone: (312)664-3575
2.Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the education requirement if their degree is found to be equivalent to degree programs recognized by the ACPE.This fining may be based on any of the following:
(a)A letter of acceptance into a U.S. graduate pharmacy program recognized by the ACPE.
(b)Written certification from the foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission, 700 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068 Phone (847) 698-6227, the the individual has successfully passed the foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination.
(c)A letter from a U.S. College or University with a pharmacy degree program recognized by ACPE stating that the individual' s foreign pharmacy degree has been evaluated and found to be equivalent to its Bachelor of Pharmacy degree.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in Licensure for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
You may need to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors and walk over rough and uneven terrain.
