About the Position: This position may be located in various locations throughout Afghanistan. The Afghanistan Engineering District has a District headquarters and various resident offices to execute the projects throughout the country. The position is under the supervision of the District commander within AED.
The job provides the opportunity to learn how USACE operates in a reconstruction effort. You will deal with competing priorities and corporate approach to improving programs and methods of operation. To be successful in this position, you will need to (a) know your job; (b) be situationally aware; (c) be healthy; and (d) treat every individual with dignity and respect.

Determines the requirements for repair, maintenance and incidental improvement for Afghanistan National Army (ANA) bases and related real property facilities. Develops annual and long range work plan for Afghanistan National Army (ANA) bases . Plans the requirements for minor construction and line item improvement projects. Monitors provision of utilities and services to Afghanistan National Army (ANA) bases . Monitors execution of maintenance, repair and incidental improvement programs and prepares reports thereon. Compares costs with standard costs, determines areas needing improvement and discusses possibilities for improvement with appropriate personnel. Assures minimum down-time of facilities on Afghanistan National Army (ANA) bases for specific maintenance. General Schedule
Foreign post differential of 35% is authorized while TCS/TDY to a downrange location. Additional compensation of 35% over basic compensation will be granted to employees for service at designated danger pay costs.
Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Locality rates of pay in CONUS will not be used for pay setting when transferring to the overseas area.
