Two Pharmacy Technician vacancy in Pharmacy Service exist for full-time pharmacy technicians with specialty in Inpatient duties for Medical ward/ Surgical ward at the Gainesville VA Medical Center, Florida. The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System is affiliated with health care programs at local colleges/universities. STATEMENT OF PRACTICE: Duties include controlled substances management, inventory management, packaging, drug delivery, prescription and order processing, Pyxis management, inspections, document management, etc..This includes management of fast moving items and slower moving items, ensuring product availability.Requires attention to detail. Duties include managing paperwork and records.Duties include having knowledge of drug preparation for unit dose dispensing, IV preparation, outpatient prescription processing, order review and interpretation, proper drug storage, drug delivery, drug charging, inventory and ordering, controlled substance processing, etc.Back up to processing prescriptions for Investigational Drug Use.



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Basic Requirements:Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be proficient in spoken and written English.Basic Requirements:Candidates must be citizens of the United States.At the GS-5 level, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level OR 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.At the GS-6 level, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of: (a) Pharmaceutical nomenclature; (b) Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; (c) Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures.Applicants should be fluent in proper techniques, theory, and calculations involved in preparing IV fluids under laminar and horizontal flow work benches.College transcripts required if substituting education for experience. Candidates applying at the GS-6 level or higher are required to hold a certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Time-In-Grade requirements must be met.College transcripts required if substituting education for experience.



You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in PTCB for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
