About the Position: This position is with the 84th Chemical Battalion CDTF Operations Division. You will work under the Supervision of the Supervisory Security Guard. You will control access to CDTF restricted areas. If a current, permanent Department of Army employee of Fort Leonard Wood is selected for this position, he/she will be given a time-limited assignment to this position, such as a temporary reassignment or promotion. The time-limited assignment will be NTE 1 year, with possible one-year extensions up to a total period NTE 4 years or the time-limited assignment will be NTE 4 years. At the discretion of management, the time-limited assignment may be converted to permanent basis at later date. Individuals from any other source (non-permanent Fort Leonard Wood employees) will be placed on a time-limited appointment.

You will patrol and/or stand guard at specified posts. You will recognize unusual conditions or situations and handle them in accordance with applicable guidelines and procedures. You will control access to restricted areas by checking vehicles and personnel for proper identification upon entering or departing restricted facility. You will enforce specialized personnel access controls by issuing badges to facility personnel and issuing passes to visitors who are properly identified, clear with person to be visited and direct or escorts visitors to destination. You will maintain log of visitors and record their time of entry and departure. You will conduct search of persons and vehicles entering or departing facility. You will confiscate any government or questionable items and detain individual(s) concerned plus notify military police personnel of action taken and request assistance.

General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify, applicant must possess one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as the following: Experience controlling personnel access to restricted areas. Experience in monitoring electronic alarm systems. Experience in using emergency and disaster control plans. Experience in the use and care of small arms. Knowledge of rules, regulations and legal authorities on the use of detention authority. Or other similar work experience that is directly related to the duties of the position being filled.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As a precondition and continuing condition of employment, the incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis testing under the Drug Abuse Testing Program IAW AR 600-85.
Position comes within the Chemical Personnel Suitability and Reliability Program and, as such, has been designated by Department of the Army as critical to the national and/or internal security. Subject to the provisions of AR 50-6, Chemical Personnel Reliability Program.
Incumbent must submit to and pass a Physical Agility Test annually IAW AR 190-56.
Incumbent must pass a pre-employment physical examination as well as an annual physical examination.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.Incumbent must be able to work under stressful situations.Position requires clean shaven face to the extent there is no possible interference of any hair growth (beard, mustache) with the sealing of the protective facemask.Incumbent will be required to wear chemical protective clothing, respirators.Required to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions and required to qualify with assigned weapons on an semi-annual basis, to demonstrate skill/proficiency in their use.
Incumbent will be exposed to pepper spray.Must meet annual training and recertification.Must complete annual/initial cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and first aid.
