About the Position: The Army Contracting Command provides customers with value-added acquisition business solutions that support the Joint Warfighter; effects acquisition of equipment, services, and supplies; prescribes rules and regulations on behalf of the Commanding General on acquisition matters; provides specialized acquisition-related functional services; and maintains command capability for monitoring deliverables against contractual requirements.

Plans, manages and directs the work of a team which involves acquisition, planning, contract negotiation, award, administration, subcontracting and termination to include final delivery and payment. As designated Contracting Officer, has sole signatory authority to entering into and bind the government to the terms of a contract. Ensures compliance with the provisions of laws and policies and advises on specific problems and acquisitions regulations. Utilizes information obtained to ensure the successful accomplishment of the procurement. Evaluates performance and gives advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Interviews candidates and makes selections, recommends promotions, or reassignment to other positions. Represents supervisor in conferences in the accomplishmnet and coordination of the acquisition program. Performs advanced acquisition planning with program office and develops the contractual strategy for the specific acquisition.

General Schedule Specialized Experience: Applicants must show in their resume that they meet minimum qulifications described below and possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the duties of the position to include: (1) Knowledge of Federal acquisition laws, regulations and procedures. (2) Knowledge of acquisition planning, contract negotiation, award, administrating and subcontracting. This experience must include knowledge of preaward and postaward functions for support services contracts. (3) Ability to plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. ***This selectee will be required to complete the Civilian Education System Advanced Course within 24 months of start date. Failure to fulfill this requirement may result in a change to lower grade.
