About the Position: Responsible for assisting customers with swimming and lifeguard activites located on a military installation that services active duty military, military family members, retired military, civilians, and contractors.

    Serves as working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing lifeguard duties. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work. Ensures that needed equipment, supplies, and materials are available. Checks work in progress. Demonstrates proper work methods. Answers workers questions regarding procedures, policies, and instructions. Obtains needed information from supervisor or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during tour of duty. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Rescues swimmers in trouble. Administers first aid as needed. May operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool meets specified standards. Keeps pool area clean. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules. Maintains daily logs and records ad required.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Must possess the American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and the American Red Cross Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer certification. In addition for facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator (AED's) and Oxygen Administration 02 Bottles, the following certificates must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty: American Red Cross Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification and American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification.
