About the Position: Responsible for the safety of customers using the swimming pool facilities on a military installation.

    Under direction of the pool supervisor, continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons; rescues swimmers in trouble and promptly administers first aid as needed; and calls for medical assistance when needed. May operate water pumps and control chemicals additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Assists in conducting swimming and water survival training. Assists in maintaining pool area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for dealing with offenders. Assists in coaching or preparing for swimming programs as required. Maintains daily logs and records as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Must possess the American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and the American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resucitation for the Professional Rescuer Certification. In addition for facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs) and Oxygen Administration 02 Bottles, the following certificates must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty: American Red Cross Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification and American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must have favorable results on pre-employment background checks. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperatures and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to seek medical treatment immediately
  • Demonstrated work experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
