WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED:

This is part of the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP).  It is open to students only, enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking status taking at least a half-time academic, technical, or vocation course load in an accredited high school, technical, vocational, 2 or 4 year college or university, graduate or professional school.



JOB SUMMARY:

THIS IS A TEMPORARY SUMMER HIRE POSITION LOCATED AT TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE AND IS NOT TO EXCEED 30 SEPT 2011.

Actual length of employment is contingent upon budget, workload, mission, and weather. 

Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid.

The FIRST CUT OFF DATE for this announcement will be 01 April 2011; subsequent cutoff dates will be every 2 weeks thereafter until all positions are filled.

This announcement will result in a 90 day register that may be used to fill like vacancies for 90 days from the closing date of this announcement.  Applicants may be referred for consideration only after qualifications and eligibility requirements are met.  Referrals will be made as vacancies occur

Ensures that care is provided to children in their charge and provides for their safety and sanitation, performs daily health checks and attends to their physical needs. Assists in planning and conducting an effective child and youth development program to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each individual child/youth based upon stated goals and a curriculum plan provided by the supervisor. Reviews and implements daily schedules and activity plans to ensure age/stage appropriateness.Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Receives children from parents. Notes special instructions which parents may provide. Maintains count of children in their charge and returns child to parent or guardian.Completes and submits reports. Participates in conferences with parents and supervisor.








QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Detail qualification requirements are outlined in OPM Qualification Standard Operating Manual for One-Grade Interval Technical and Medical Support Positions.

To qualify for a GS-03, you must have:

6 months of general experience

OR

One year above high school

OR

Combining Experience and Education: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience are also qualifying. The combinations described below are those most typical for these positions, i.e., for grades GS-3 through GS-5. If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position. (When crediting education, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)

For GS-3 level positions, determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the 6 months' experience required for GS-3; then deter-mine the applicant's education as a percentage of the l year of education that meets the requirements for GS-3. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-3. 

General experience is defined as; 1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or 2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old at time of appointment.



Must provide evidence of required immunizations.





Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks.





Must complete additional training requirements including CPR, First Aid and food handlers.





Training may be conducted on the weekends and evening hours.





May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include weekends and evening hours.





Must pass a pre-employment physical.



This position is a Test Designated Position (TDP), incumbent is subject to Drug Testing.
