YOU WILL DEPLOY TO SOUTHWEST ASIA IN A TEMPORARY DUTY (TDY) STATUS APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE TIME. You will install, modify, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronics equipment associated with C4ISR systems. Inspects equipment and diagnoses malfunctions. Operates and maintains computerized automated test equipment and special equipment test devices. Disassembles items and repairs, replaces, and adjusts any defective components or parts. Cleans, reworks, replaces, adjusts, aligns, calibrates and modifies as required.. Performs complete depot overhaul, maintenance and repair of related test equipment; diagnoses and locates difficulties; and disassembles and inspects devices, components, assemblies, and parts. The incumbent replaces defective parts, cables, and circuitry wiring. Completely reassembles machines; makes all necessary adjustments and alignments; tests reassembled equipments to insure faultless operation.

SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Your resume must indicate your overall, knowledge, experience, training and education (as stated in the major duties paragraph of this announcement) to independently perform the work of an Electronics Mechanic. Resumes will be reviewed for Extensive practical knowledge of operations, capabilities, and limitations of electronic equipment and systems. Skill in applying this knowledge to understand new, prototype and experimental systems in order to test, align, repair, modify equipment, coordinate with engineers and technicians on design problems, and guide lower level employees. Expert knowledge of troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot new, prototype, experimental and state-of- the-art electronic equipment and systems. Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, pertinent portions of technical manuals and locally developed drawings, and applying them independently to repair and troubleshooting projects. Skill in using a broad range of automated and non-automated test equipment in testing complex electronic equipment and systems. Practical knowledge of electronic theory and design. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to devise solutions for operating and/or repair problems on experimental systems. Ingenuity Physical Efforts: Light to moderate physical effort is required. This position frequently lifts and carries up to 40 pounds. The work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and working in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally work in high places may be required. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors to distinguish color codes. Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to possibility of serious burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy, hot components, and microwave radiation and subject to cuts, bruises and scrapes from handling. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is an emergency essential (E-E) position. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position is designated "Key", which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate to be screened from military recall status. 1.The incumbent will deploy to Southwest Asia in a Temporary Duty Status approximately 90% of the time. 2. The incumbent is required to successfully complete a specific formal individual development training program. 3. The position may require incumbent to travel to hostile environments. 4. Extensive overtime will be required.

Experience and training that furnish the knowledges, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.

Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.
