The Staff Physician is responsible for:

  • Maintaining professional, technical, administrative knowledge, competencies, and skills to provide effective, timely and quality responses to patients’ health care needs. 
  • Providing care for veterans ranging in age from 18 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnosis, physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs.
  • Working full time in a clinic, responsible for a panel of at least 1200 patients and conducting eight weekly clinic sessions.The number of weekly clinic sessions can be prorated based on other activities the physician becomes involved in at the request of management.
  • Physicians must comply with credentialing and privileging and required monitoring and evaluation criteria.
  • Maintaining high clinical standards that are carried into decision-making processes, and continually strive to maintain and enhance teaching skills to effectively teach residents and students.
  • Following current standards for medical record documentation and residency supervision and to achieve a ninety-percent compliance rate with established Chronic Disease and Prevention Indicators.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Possess a degree of Doctor of Medicine.
  • Have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a Positive education requirement.)   Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.   Applicants can verify accreditation at the following website:  http://www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html   All education claimed by applicants will be verified by the appointing agency accordingly.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred. 
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of our credentialing process.
  • Selectee will be presented to a peer review board to determine final grade and salary.
  • Subject to a 2 year probationary period.
