Working alone or as a member of a crew, performs a full range of janitorial duties of which the following are typical: Maintains an orderly and clean specified area following general instructions regarding the tasks to be performed. Sets up own schedule and sequence of tasks within the framework of a general schedule, which states the required frequency of each task. Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors, using heavy industrial powered equipment. Washes and cleans windows inside and outside of building. Uses brushes, buckets, squeegees, chamois, cleaning cloths, and cleaning solutions. Assists in special preparations for special displays, customer appreciation sales, holiday sales, or other promotion activities in the commissary.  Performs seasonal tasks such as the following: Cuts grass, pulls weeds, and trims bushes. Picks up litter from immediate area outside building. Sweeps sand and other debris from the front entrance of the commissary.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT:  In order to receive consideration for this position, applicants must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. 

Applicants must meet the required screen out element:  Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.  This includes, but is not limited to: ability to perform recurring tasks involving several procedures or steps; ability to concentrate on work assignments to determine amounts or servings prepared for customers using common kitchen equipment; ability to read signs, follow simple oral an dwritten instructions, move around well enough to work safely, lift and move lightweight objects.

Physical effort: Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
