JOB SUMMARY:The Providence VA Medical Center provides high quality comprehensive outpatient and inpatient healthcare to veterans residing in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Each veteran patient is assured personalized care by a team of health care providers.

The Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department has 24 hour 7 day a week accountability of Unit operations and collaborates with the supervisory staff to ensure safety and quality. Responsibilities include evaluation and maintenance of patient care programs, resource utilization management, and staff development according to ANCC standards of Emergency Nursing. The incumbent reports directly to the Associate Chief for Nursing Service (ACNS).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Must be a U.S. Citizen. Graduate of an NLNAC/CCNE accredited school of nursing with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. MSN or Master's in a field related to nursing preferred. Have a current, active full active and unrestricted license as a professional nurse. Minimum of four (4) years of progressive nursing experience required. Leadership experience in an Emergency Department (ED), Critical Care or Mental Health setting preferred. National certification in Clinical Area or in Nursing Administration a plus. Experience with electronic medical record and bar code medication administration system preferred.
Specialized Education:
You must show successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher in the field related to the job to which you are applying.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
