JOB SUMMARY:

The Providence VA Medical Center provides high quality comprehensive outpatient   and inpatient healthcare to veterans residing in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Each veteran patient is assured personalized care by a team of health care providers.

The Nurse Manager in the Medical /Surgery/Telemetry is responsible for a 27 bed unit. Patient population is complex adults both male and female with significant mental health and social health needs. This position has 24/7 accountability of Unit operations and collaborates with the supervisory staff to ensure safety and quality. Responsibilities include evaluation and maintenance of patient care programs, resource utilization management, and complete Unit-level administrative responsibilities. He/she is also responsible for staff development according to ANCC of Medical/Surgical Nursing. The incumbent reports directly to the Associate Chief for Nursing Service (ACNS).



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Must be U.S. Citizen.  Graduate of a state approved, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)/Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited school of nursing. Minimum of four years of progressive nursing experience, leadership experience preferred. National certification in Clinical Area or in Nursing Administration a plus. Experience with electronic medical record and bar code medication administration system preferred.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
