About the Position: This is an Open-Continuous Vacancy announcement. Any subsequent cut-off date(s) will be at management's discretion.

This position is located at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, home of the US Army Aviation "Center of Excellence." Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.

    Operates complex multi-engine rotary wing aircraft and flight simulators, instructing and evaluating rated and non-rated pilots attending the UH-60 Aviator Qualification Course, UH-60 Initial Entry Rotary Wing Flight School XXI Course and the UH-60 Instructor Pilot Course/Methods of Instruction. Instructs all personnel attending these courses in basic and advanced flight tasks and maneuvers. Instructs and evaluates flight maneuvers and tasks that include contact, night vision goggles, tactics, and instrument flight procedures. Conducts preflight briefings preparing rated students for flight training period. Conducts in-flight briefings, and post-flight debriefings to rated students concerning performance during the training period. Maintains student grade folders in accordance with appropriate regulations and approved procedures. Provides classroom instruction on aircraft systems, training maneuvers, procedures, and other flight related subjects.

  • Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.
  • One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.
  • Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated work experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
