YOU WILL DEPLOY TO SOUTHWEST ASIA IN A TEMPORARY DUTY (TDY) STATUS APPROXIMATELY 90% OF THE TIME. You will work independently on routine assignments such as maintaining, troubleshooting, testing and repairing problems in single layered printed circuit cards, and other equipment that is of limited design and functional complexity. Assist higher grade employees in more complex overhaul, troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification, alignment, and maintenance of communication-electronic equipment and systems. Perform the more simple tasks such as removing/replacing defective components, modules, and assemblies that have been identified by Electronics Mechanics or Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) as being defective. Operate ATE which has been programmed to a type of chassis or circuit card to isolate or locate defective components. Follow detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, layout diagrams and work instructions construct individual chassis and components of electronic equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must indicate your overall, knowledge, experience, training and education (as stated in the major duties paragraph of this announcement) to independently perform the work of an Electronics Mechanic. Resumes will be reviewed for experience/training which provided skills and knowledge of electronics equipment, assembly, installation, repair, overhaul, modification, calibration and alignment; electronics shop and trade practices to include the knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments; ability to use, read and interpret electronics diagrams and schematics; dexterity in the use of hand and power tools for electronics assembly and disassembly; theory of electronics to include knowledge of principles, basic functions, and applications of electronics/electricity; and ability to troubleshoot malfunctioned circuits and components using the appropriate test equipment within the functional system and determine method of repair. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires normal color perception, close eye-hand coordination, and body movements such as sitting, kneeling, bending, climbing, standing, crawling, stooping, and lifting. Frequently lifts objects up to 40 pounds. May be required to work in cramped and strained positions inside and outside vans, shelters, and on work-stands. WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to the usual hazards associated with the electronic trade and work environment such as electrical shock; abrasions; burns; bruises; cuts; exposure to fumes, oils, greases, varying noise levels; and R.F. radiation. May be required to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear-plugs, and etc. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outside on shelters or van mounted systems. Is required to comply with all applicable safety directives. ***CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT***: This is an emergency essential (E-E) position. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position is designated "Key", which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate to be screened from military recall status. 1. The incumbent will deploy to Southwest Asia in a Temporary Duty Status approximately 90% of the time. 2.The incumbent is required to successfully complete a specific formal individual development training program. 3. The position may require incumbent to travel to hostile environments. 4. Extensive overtime will be required.

Experience and training that furnish the knowledges, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.

Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.

Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Additional compensation up to 35% over basic compensation will be granted to employees in designated danger pay locations.
