JOB SUMMARY:
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position.
Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits afforded to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ARTs positions.As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on the average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members thereof are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
This is a standing register used to fill potential positions at AFRC locations as vacancies occur. The beginning and ending salaries may vary depending on location of position.
Some positions may have promotion potential to a higher grade than the grade being filled. Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement.
Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), to perform scheduled or unscheduled inspections, repairs, replacements, build-up and tear down, flightline maintenance and operational runs of aircraft propulsion systems.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A specific length of experience or training is not required. However, you must have had experience and/or training (military or civilian, paid or unpaid) of sufficient scope and quality to be able to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You must show that you have knowledge, skills and abilities of the Job Elements listed below as they relate to the position for which you are applying. Since your rating will be based upon the information you supply in your application (resume) you should be as detailed as possible when identifying your relevant work experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position may or will require incumbent to:
(1)The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (2)The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) May be required to work uncommon tour of duty. (4) Position may require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance. (5) Perform work standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time. (6) Work outside in inclement weather. (7) Work around machinery with moving parts and/or moving objects or vehicles. (8) Be exposed to solvents, grease, oils, electrical energy, excessive noise, and vibration, slippery and uneven walking surfaces. (9) Work on ladders or scaffolding. (10) May be required to lift or carry items weighing 45 lbs or more. (11) Position is designated for drug testing.
