JOB SUMMARY:

This is an Air Reserve Technician Enlisted position. 



Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

This is a standing register used to fill potential positions at AFRC locations as vacancies occur.  The beginning and ending salaries may vary depending on location of position.

Some positions may have promotion potential to a higher grade than the grade being filled.  Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement.

Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve.  Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

The primary purpose of this position is to learn to provide administrative support in the management of an aerial port squadron's resource and information activities.Provides training in the accomplishment of these tasks.  Under decreasing supervision, provides technical administrative support for the management, prpeparation, and monitoring of military matters with Military Personnel Flight (MPF), compiling reports and processing actions.  Serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison with the military personnel office.  Receives telephone calls, greets visitors and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.  Prepares a variety of recurring and non recurring correspondence, reports.  Prepares effective training plans.  Uses office administrative software  to create, format, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.Typically we would find this experience in work within this field or a filed closely related.See KSAs listed in “How You Will Be Evaluated”.


Substition of Education for Experience:  For the GS-05, a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or uiniversity (which resulted in a degree). 

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Position may or will require incumbent to: (1)The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (2) The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) May be required to work uncommon tour of duty. (4) May require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance. (5) Some positions covered by this announcement may be designated for drug testing.
