About the Position:

This is an Open-Continuous vacancy announcement. Any subsequent cut-off date(s) will be at management's discretion.

Work is done in a class room, on the flight line and in the aircraft. Applicant can expect to instruct students in the advance aircraft qualification course, IPC/MOI and FS XXI.

This positin is located at Fort Rucker, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding aeas for family and fun.

    Instructs and evaluates rated and non-rated aviators in pilot and instructor pilot proficiency in the AH-64D, Longbow, attack helicopter; single rotor, multi-engine, tandem seated, heavy (over 12,500 lbs), rotary wing aircraft and Longbow Crew Trainer to include basic/advanced flight maneuvers, aircraft systems and limitations, instruments flight procedures and terrain flight including nap of the earth flight techniques. Conducts classroom training and operates the multi-engine, tandem seated AH-64D attack helicopter while instructing or evaluating the copilot/gunners station integrating the Target Acquisition Designation System, Fire Control Radar, Radio Frequency Interferometer, permission switchology, weapon switchology, weaponry, laser operations, fire delivery, aerial gunnery techniques, tactical digital communications and navigation. Briefs/debriefs students concerning performance.

  • One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.
  • Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
