JOB SUMMARY:

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position. 



Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits afforded to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ARTs  positions.As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on the average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members thereof are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

This is a standing register used to fill potential positions at AFRC locations as vacancies occur.  The beginning and ending salaries may vary depending on location of position.  

Some positions may have promotion potential to a higher grade than the grade being filled.  Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement.

Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve.  Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform such duties a installing, adjusting, aligning, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assembles, and components such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, pumps, and hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

A specific length of experience or training is not required. However, you must have had experience and/or training (military or civilian, paid or unpaid) of sufficient scope and quality to be able to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Position may or will require incumbent to:

(1) Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments. (2) Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (3) May be required to work uncommon tour of duty. (4) May be required to drive a motor vehicle. (5) May require lifting 80lbs and over. (6) Position may require background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance. (7) Some positions covered by this announcement may be designated for drug testing.  (8) Some position under this announcement may be covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.  An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
