About the Position: This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Benning, GA 31905. The Maneuver Center of Excellence, Ft. Benning is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year-round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.
The purpose of the position is to perform access control & patrol duties on a military installation for the purpose of safeguarding Government personnel, information, operations & critical assets in accordance with a wide variety of Federal rules & agency/local regulations/policies.
Will work inside & outside with possible exposure to inclement weather.

Will detect & prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage & espionage & enforces security regulations. Controls access of vehicles & pedestrians; verifies identification & allows entrance; denies entrance or arranges for escorts; answers visitors questions, issues daily passes; inspects vehicles, containers & personal property; confiscates unauthorized or controlled items; & detains those suspected of criminal or illegal activity. Makes instantaneous decisions regarding use of deadly force, operates Active Vehicle Barrier when required & alerts officials of apparent security violations. Secures installation from all entry on own initiative or upon notification of alarm or emergency. Conducts foot or vehicle patrol, & traffic stops at IACP. Detains violators, identifies witnesses & renders first aid. Implement enhances security in the event of bomb, fire or other threat. Exercises crowd control; maintains duty journal & prepares reports; & preserves accident sites.

General Schedule The best qualified candidates for this job must show in their resume that they meet the minimum qualifications described below & have training or experience in the following areas: 6 months of general experience & 6 months of specialized experience. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: administrative, technical, clerical, military or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization protecting property against fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order & protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems & techniques. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a two year study at an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying. TRAINING: Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques qualifies for specialized experience at the GS-4 level on a month-for-month basis. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply; subject to recurring drug & urinalysis testing; shift work is required or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty include evenings, nights, weekends & holidays. Overtime may be required & subject to recall for emergency overtime; must be proficient in firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification & qualify semi-annually thereafter; subject to civil actions due to improper exercise of authority or use of force in detaining individuals; must undergo & pass periodic physical, emotional & mental exams; must successfully complete security guard training, CPR certification & First Aid training; required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves & other equipment, & to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants & baton; will be required to pass entry level & annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test; must wear a uniform; must participate in regularly scheduled training in use of deadly force, counter-terrorism, first aid, firearms, actuation anti-vehicle barriers, search/seizure, security operations & enforcement of rules, regs & policies; good eye/hand coordination is required to operate radios, weapons & security equipment; must be in good physical condition to conduct/assist searching vehicles & persons & restraining persons; frequently lifts persons involved in accidents/incidents; uses unarmed combat techniques for self defense or to subdue persons; subject to verbal abuse & possible injury or death.
