This is an open continuous announcement which will establish an inventory of applicants interested in a career as a Mission Support Assistant (OA) with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

GS-5: You qualify at the GS-5 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples include gathering data for routine reports, maintaining transaction logs, maintaining office files and records, ordering routine equipment and services, typing office documents, reviewing forms and other documents for completeness, and preparing graphs and charts OR
GS-5: Successful completion of a full four-year course of study above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite can be substituted for specialized experience. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45-quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
There is NO education substitution at the GS-6 or GS-7 Grade Levels for this position.
GS-6: You qualify at the GS-6 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples include preparing a variety of administrative program documents and reports, monitoring transactions, maintaining records, processing requests for services and resolving discrepancies, and providing routine program information to users.
GS-7: You qualify at the GS-7 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples include coordinating administrative requirements with offices served, maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining the most up-to-date information on procedural requirements, providing procedural assistance on routine administrative matters, maintaining databases, identifying trends or patterns, and compiling a variety of reports.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics (KSAO's):
Candidates who meet the minimum qualification requirements are required to possess certain Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Other Characteristics (KSAO's) to successfully perform the functions of this position. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their attainment of these KSAO's in an online job questionnaire. The KSAO's are:
- Ability to interpret, understand and apply an extensive body of established concepts, principles, regulations, policies, procedures and operating guidelines governing one or more administrative support functions, such as personnel, procurement, property and space management, security, financial management, and public affairs
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software such as word processors, databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in order to input, organize, assist in analyzing, and present information in a variety of effective and useful ways
