KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Current CPR/First-Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certification Required
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Required
- Must have one-year lifeguard experience
- Background and/or Security Investigation required.

Working with Senior Ocean Lifeguard, exercises responsibility for safeguarding the lives of patrons using MCBH recreational pool and beaches. Ensures that pool and beach safety rules are strictly followed by patrons, applying a good knowledge of all aspects of water safety. Participates in and/or undertakes rescue operations under various aquatic conditions and renders emergency first aid until qualified medical assistance is obtained. Completes appropriate accident reports if necessary. Ensures that life saving equipment is on hand and in operating condition.
Maintains awareness of aquatic conditions, takes action to alert patrons of water hazards, and recommends to superiors the closing of aquatics areas as necessary. Marks swim and surf areas with a flag system. Provides information and/or answers questions regarding safety rules and procedures. Removes hazardous materials from beach such as floating debris and glass, and performs light maintenance on lifeguard equipment and vehicles.
Position may safeguard Base Pools, operating independently to ensure the safety of patrons, the rescue of swimmers in trouble, and the administration of first aid as necessary. Performs swimming instructions in various swimming styles and basic diving. Monitors chemical balance of water, and performs routine pool maintenance tasks, i.e., cleaning debris and vacuuming. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Must have one year lifeguard experience and the following: current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for the professional rescuer and First Aid Training. Water Safety Instructor certification highly desired. A high level of physical fitness to perform rescue operations using varied equipment. USLA training in open water desired. Knowledge of ocean and beach environment, marine life, and ocean water hazards is required. A driver's license is required.
You must have CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position. for this position.
You may need to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors and walk over rough and uneven terrain.
