About the Position: This position is located in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Kaiserslautern has developed into the largest US military community outside the United States. The city of Kaiserslautern is nestled in the small hills west of the Rhine River Valley, on the edge of the famous German Pfalz forest. Although the climate is changeable much of the time, the area does enjoy many pleasant days with reasonable temperatures. The winter is short and mild with some snowfall.     Serves as a military pay technician in the 266th Financial Management Center (FMC). Performs a variety of military pay, separation, and special actions processing which require application of a series of different and unrelated methods, practices, and techniques. Prepares and consolidates for review a variety of military payment documents (e.g. allotment, leave forms, pay option forms, TSP forms, etc.) and electronically processes through a variety of military pay automated systems employed at the PCE. Incumbent operates in accordance with Department of Defense Financial Management Regulation and other financial regulations. Employee serves as a subordinate to senior Finance Specialists under the Branch Chief, USAREUR PCE.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: To receive consideration for this position, applicants must possess 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-4. The quality of this experience must clearly demonstrate the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary to successfully perform the duties of this position. This includes, but is not limited to: interaction with others in order to explain actions taken in regard to a military member?s entitlement, allowances or collection actions; knowledge of standardized military pay rules, regulations, laws, procedures or operations to determine, process, and explain standard military pay actions taken in regard to service member's pay account; and knowledge of the coding procedures and requirements for each document in an automated pay system used in entering, reviewing, or changing information in an individual's pay account. Additionally, applicants who have completed 4 years of education above high school may qualify based on education provided that such education clearly demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties above.

  • GS-05: One year of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next lower grade level, or a 4 year course of study above the high school level leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to this occupation, or a combination of experience and education.
