JOB SUMMARY:This position is located in the Radio Production unit of the Latin American Division. The incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of functions related to radio, Internet and television for the Spanish Branch and Creole Service. Duties includes serving as a Radio Production and Multimedia Specialist in the Latin American Division with primary responsibility for producing, recording and broadcasting division programs for radio, television and the web.

  • Plans, organizes and directs the production of radio programs in Spanish and Creole for audiences in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Responsible for decisions relating to presentation and production including the use of music, sound and actualities.
  • Serves as studio director, modifying program format as necessary to meet altered time requirements or the demands of a late breaking story.
  • Edits pre-recorded packages, interviews and telephone feeds to correct format and production errors.
  • Prepares audio television segments from multiple sources such as the Internet, DALET, PLUS and APTN.
  • Assists in the creation and in the production process of web content, publishing text, digital audio and video production, graphics creation and selection.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum Qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.

Specialized Experience:  The candidate must be experience in writing, producing, adapting, and adding content in Spanish for the Service's radio, television and web news. In addition to knowledge of journalism in general, web-based journalism in particular is required.
