DUTIES:
This position is located on a Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. The purpose of the position is to coordinate the Career Readiness Program that links Job Corps students with the business community; regional and state employment programs; local and county-wide school systems; and Federal, state and local government agencies. The incumbent assesses students' career transition readiness, projected dates of completion of Career Technical Training and academic goals, and their acquisition of employment skills. Conducts labor market assessments to identify businesses and industries that should be targeted for involvement by the Job Corps Center. This includes job development and placement; selection of Center career offerings; curriculum development and relationships that will support the Job Corps program. The incumbent coordinates statistics relating to student placement, average pay, job training match and follow-up after leaving the Job Corps program. Prepares reports for work-based learning that verifies work sites, agreements for work, and student progress. Provides resources and encourages unemployed students to seek employment. Incumbent analyzes skill requirements and on-the-job demands to estimate the probability of success that students will have in completing the program. Provides advice and assistance to resolve education or training problems. Collaborates with employers, Career Technical Training instructors, academic teachers, and independent living staff to insure that student training is relevant to the workplace. Serves as liaison between agency education functions and the community. Maintains contacts with State, local, and professional education associations.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Examples include: (1) Work that required obtaining and applying occupational information for people with disabilities which provided a knowledge of interrelationships involved in professional and specialist services and skill in counseling to motivate and encourage individuals. (2) Experience that demonstrated knowledge of the vocational rehabilitation problems characteristic of disabled, or disadvantaged, including familiarity with adult education and training resources, and ability to recognize problem areas. (3) Experience in vocational guidance or teaching in programs for disadvantaged or placement programs for persons with disabilities.

EDUCATION: Completion of two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's or equivalent degree, such as an LL.B. or J.D. at a college or university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Education must have included major study in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering; or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements.

Applicants MUST possess at the time of submitting their application, the required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. The CDL and endorsement must be maintained throughout the duration of the appointment. As part of the CDL requirement, all incumbents of this position must participate in random alcohol and drug testing.

BASIS OF RATING: The category rating procedure is used to rank and select eligible candidates.
