JOB SUMMARY:The A/V Branch of the Office of Facilities, Engineering, and
Operations, provides a wide variety of audio-visual
support services for the Smithsonian Institution, its museums,
research facilities, offices, agencies, outreach and education
functions as well as for diverse external organizations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Your overall experience and training must indicate that you have the
minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed to meet the
qualifications.
ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN
NORMAL SUPERVISION. This includes setting up, operating and
adjusting one or more of the following: a portable Public Address
system with separate audio mixer, equalization, amplifier, and four
speakers on stands; large screen video playback or computer video
connection to adjust registration on a CRT based video data/video
projector; digital video recording; projector; or 16 mm and 35 mm
silent and sound motion picture projectors and screens. (This is the
screen-out element. Applicants who are not rated satisfactory or
potentially satisfactory on the screen-out element will not be rated
on the remaining elements).
NOTE: There is no substitution of education for experience for this
position. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing
date
of the announcement.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Incumbent must be able to
identify sounds above 80 decibels; distinguish colors and shades of
colors; move, lift and transport equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

- Knowledge of related work practices (includes keeping things
neat, clean and in order). - Knowledge of technical practices (theoretical, precise,
artistic). - Knowledge of materials used in the Audio-Visual Operator trade.
