About the Position: This position is located in Adelphi, Maryland which is in Prince Georges County, a metropolitan area, bordered to the south by Washington DC and to the north by Baltimore. It is approximately 30 miles south of Baltimore and the White Marsh area, and 10 miles north of Washington DC.

    You will work under close supervision during training while performing the full range of operations, maintenance, and repair of high-temperature water (HTW) generators and chillers, including related equipment within the central Heat/Chill plant. The central plant consists of four 12,500,000 BTUH and one 5,000,000 BTUH HTW generators, (2) 1,000 ton, two 800 ton and one 500 ton centrifugal chillers and all related equipment and systems. You will Perform the full range of operations, maintenance, and repair of steam and hot water boilers, unfired steam generators, and house air compressors throughout the installation, including related equipment and system.

  • Qualified candidates must show in their resume that they have training/education or experience in the following job elements: 1. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT). 2 Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair. 3. Technical practices (theoretical precise, artistic). 4. Use of measuring instruments. 5. Ability to interpret instruction, specification (includes blueprints reading).6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. 7. Knowledge of materials. Note: the incumbent must possess at least a current Fourth Class Engineer's license issued by the State of Maryland or the District of Columbus, equivalent license from another state, or a Fourth Class Engineering certificate issued by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers. PHYSICAL EFFORT: you will at the grade level 8 typically handle and carries tools, equipment and testing devices that weigh less than 23 kilograms (50 pounds). The work is normally performed at sites where most of the equipment can be conveniently reached. WORKING CONDITIONS: you will at the grade 8 level perform work mostly inside. Environment often requires incumbent to perform duties within sudden temperature change settings such as walk-in freezer units and heating plants. THIS IS A EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL POSITION
